Haiti, one of the poorest third world countries in the world, was hit hard on January 12, 2010, by several earthquakes during midday, and today the world continues to send relief hoping to be able to aid the countless people struggling for survival. According to the New York Times, this was one of the worst earthquakes in over 200 years. News also states that the body count by January 23rd was estimated at 150,000. Haiti has been plagued by violence, drugs, corruption, and recently by natural disasters.
Wyclef Jean, a Hatian, and many others have asked people to donate to help Haiti find their loves ones, have access to clean drinking water, have enough meals for everyone, and to help rise up from this horrific natural disaster. The 'Hope for Haiti Now' fundraiser, which was aired on MTV, has raised over $58 million dollars, and they continue to ask for more donations if possible. If you would like to donate, please visit their site and donate to Haiti now.
